Last year I posted the following 4th of July message and suggested that we examine wither we are drifting as a nation.
"A very happy 4th of July to all of the TH family, including the trolls. Let us all think about where we started and examine carefully whether we are still headed in the original direction. Since 1776 many good Americans have bled and died for those freedoms enumerated in our founding documents. God forbid that they have bled and died in vain. America must find her way out of the ever thickening fog of socialism that has blinded and confused us and demand a return to the freedoms that made us a great country."
In the intervening 12 months we have lost our liberties at an astounding rate of speed. The stink of socialism permeates the atmosphere as it creeps into every aspect of the lives of our citizens. The voice of the people has been ignored while the power elite of government, and business, loot the pockets of the people and congratulate themselves on having the courage to ignore the constitution and the will of their constituents. These actions are the hallmark of an aristocracy, not the actions of equals acting on the behalf of equals in a constitutional republic.
This writer finds little to celebrate this year. I think perhaps instead it should be a day of national mourning for the passing of the Republic. The will of people to be free is not dead but the constitution that guaranteed that freedom, and created the freest country in history, is on life-support and will soon fall victim to ObamaCare.
I will fly the flag today but today it goes up inverted!
