(pictured left: It is thought that due to a lack of minorities in certain of the candidate's speaking venues, supporters are being encourage to bring pictures of minorities to fill out the background. This is a common practice in democratic campaigns.)
Senator Barack Obama, speaking to a group of supporters in San Francisco, made the following remarks:
"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them,"
"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,"
Apparently it is the view of the democratic candidate from Illinois, that when people lose their jobs, wait around 25 years for them to reappear and are then frustrated when these jobs don’t materialize, they become bitter and angry. This anger drives them to seek solace in such outdated and antiquated notions as faith in God, exercising their 2nd amendment rights, and the wildly radical idea that the United States is a sovereign country.
The last bitterness is not too difficult to understand in the light of Pennsylvania being fourth in the country in Trade Union membership. The same Trade Unions who failed to keep those jobs from disappearing are also against free trade. Mr. Obama, however, hangs this “anti-trade sentiment” on the end of his list of prerogatives just as if he himself wasn’t opposed to NAFTA and CAFTA in complete accord with the labor unions.
The remarks were explained(?) by the candidate as follows:
“At a town hall meeting on Friday, Obama said he made the comment because some supporters heard he was having trouble attracting working-class voters. He was trying to say he empathized with them.”
So in the view of the Senator, calling people bitter Christo-phobic racist gun-nut isolationists is the best way to show empathy for small town America. The message is also best delivered, not in a small town, but rather in San Francisco, a city that The Black Agenda Report says is engaged in ethnic cleansing having already successfully displaced 60% of working class blacks through urban redevelopment programs.
This is the same city that announced a full-scale media blitz to attract the illegal aliens needed to fill these jobs, at lower wages of course, and complete with taxpayer funded benefits. This is the city by the bay represented by Nancy Pelosi, who is currently engaged in killing the fence project, bottling up enforcement legislation, and moving yet another AMNESTY bill in the congress. It would appear that the congress in general and the democrats in particular will not be satisfied until every American job is either off-shore or in the hands of someone not legally allowed to work. Except their own job of course!
Perhaps Mr. Obama should have stuck to what works and simply said that they were just “typical” small town Americans.
